Tai Tarian has been recognised as a key driver behind Neath Port Talbot being named the UK's leading local authority area for small-scale renewable energy installations per household.

According to the latest figures from the MCS Foundation, Neath Port Talbot recorded the highest number of certified renewable energy installations per household anywhere in the UK during the first half of 2026. Impressively, we delivered 71% of all renewable technology installations completed across the area, playing a significant role in securing the number one ranking.

The achievement reflects our commitment in creating warmer, greener and more energy-efficient homes for our tenants through both retrofit programmes and new-build developments.

Across the UK, more than 210,000 certified renewable energy installations, including solar panels, air source heat pumps and battery storage systems, were completed during the first six months of 2026. These technologies are helping households reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions and become less reliant on traditional energy sources.

At Tai Tarian, these benefits are already being felt by tenants, with renewable technologies supporting more sustainable living while contributing to our wider carbon reduction ambitions.

Nick Tagg Chief Executive of Tai Tarian said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for Neath Port Talbot and something we should all be incredibly proud of. It demonstrates what can be achieved when Tai Tarian, the Welsh Government, Neath Port Talbot Council, our installation partners, colleagues and tenants work together with a shared ambition to create greener homes and communities.

What matters most is the difference this investment is making to people’s lives. By improving the energy efficiency of our homes and investing in green technologies, we’re helping tenants enjoy warmer, more energy-efficient homes, helping to alleviate cost of living pressures and lowering carbon emissions.

For Tai Tarian to have delivered 71% of the renewable technology installations across Neath Port Talbot is a remarkable contribution. It reflects the commitment of our colleagues, the support and investment of Welsh Government, our partnership with Neath Port Talbot Council, our installation partners and of course, the willingness of our tenants to embrace these changes in their homes.

This is a great example of partnership delivering real benefits for people today, while helping to create a greener, more sustainable Neath Port Talbot for generations to come. We’ll continue building on that progress as we work towards becoming a carbon-neutral organisation.”
