Celebrating skills for life

Monday 09 February 2026

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating the incredible contribution our apprentices make not only to our business but the tenants and communities we serve.

We currently have 15 apprentices across the organisation, training across a wide range of trades, including bricklaying, carpentry, roofing, electrical, plastering, plumbing, and multi trade roles. Each are building valuable skills for life through hands on experience, training, and support and show our commitment to developing skilled professionals across the organisation.

With a new trades-focused apprenticeship programme launching later this year, we’re excited to welcome even more apprentices in the months ahead.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with three of our newest recruits to hear about their journeys so far.

Brandon Jones – plastering apprentice

How are things going so far?

“My plastering apprenticeship is going well and I’m enjoying learning on the job while building real skills. I especially like seeing a job through from start to finish and knowing I’ve helped create a clean, smooth finish, which is so important in plastering.

I’m learning how to prepare surfaces properly, applying different finishes, and working efficiently as part of a team.

How are you finding working for Tai Tarian?

“I love working for Tai Tarian, it’s such a privilege and it’s been really positive for me. Everyone is supportive and always willing to help.

What would you say to someone thinking of an apprenticeship?

“I’d definitely recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who prefers hands on work and wants a practical career with real opportunities to progress.”

Kyan Martin – plastering apprentice

How are you enjoying your apprenticeship Kyan, what are the best bits?

“I’m really enjoying my plastering apprenticeship, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to join Tai Tarian.

I love my role here, and it means a lot when tenants compliment our work and professionalism. I’m learning so much every day and picking up a wide range of new skills.

What would you say to anyone thinking of getting a trade?

“Working with Tai Tarian has been one of the best things for me, we make a real difference in our local communities, and it feels good to be part of that.

For anyone thinking about applying for an apprenticeship, I’d say Tai Tarian is one of the best places you could choose. The support, the training, and the chance to experience different parts of the organisation are brilliant.

It’s a great company to join at any age, and the opportunities it offers are fantastic.”

Jack Jones – carpentry apprentice

How is your apprenticeship going so far?

I’m really enjoying my carpentry apprenticeship. It’s been fun learning new techniques and gaining a better understanding of the full construction process, while developing practical, hands-on skills on site.

I enjoy the variety of my tasks and have learnt many new practical skills such as using tools safely, accurate measuring and cutting, and basic construction techniques.

What do I think about working for Tai Tarian? - It’s a great place to work. The team is supportive, positive, and always encourages you to improve.

What would I say to someone thinking about an apprenticeship?

Go for it – it’s never too late. You earn while you learn, gain real skills, and set yourself up with a solid career for the future. Tai Tarian is also a great place to work. The team is supportive, positive, and always encourages you to improve.

Apprenticeships at Tai Tarian have always been so much more than training opportunities. For so many they’re become pathways to long-term careers, and opportunities to progress within the business.

With more apprenticeship recruitment planned for the months ahead, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of skilled tradespeople to the Tai Tarian family.
