County Flats, Sandfields

We are transforming the area's 72 existing flats as well as building 55 new ones in one of our most ambitious developments to date.

The existing will be upgraded with a series of environmentally friendly features including thermal upgrades, solar panels, insulation and double-glazed windows.  The newly built properties will also benefit from Air Source Heat Pumps, a system that absorbs heat from the outside air and uses it to heat the homes and hot water.

The newly-built flats on the site will comprise one two-bedroom flat and 54 one-bedroom flats.

The open spaces around the flats will also be enhanced in keeping with our pledge to create sustainable communities and planet.

Hale Construction, has been appointed as the principle contractor for the project.  The Neath-based company previously completed the Cwrt Cartref development in Skewen and the Heol Llwyn Celyn scheme in Caewern for Tai Tarian.

This innovative development is funded by Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant and Innovative Housing Programme (IHP). This is aimed at building more environmentally friendly homes whilst meeting our decarbonisation housing pledge.

Golwg Dur
Golwg Dur is a five-storey block of 20, one-bedroom apartments, and its completion marks the end of the first phase of the eco-friendly redevelopment of the historic County Flats.

Technology such as solar panels and air source heat pump systems are also installed. The flats benefit from features such as open plan kitchens, parking, a video entry system for extra security, storage space and spacious bedrooms.
