A Neath Port Talbot social landlord is marking the Remembrance season by signing a new Armed Forces Covenant which sets out its commitment to supporting the armed forces community in the area.

Tai Tarian, which owns more than 9000 homes in the borough, has taken the step to demonstrate the organisation’s recognition of the sacrifice made by serving personnel, veterans and military.

The issue is close to the hearts of both Tai Tarian chief executive Linda Whittaker, and board chair, Fiona Jones OBE, as they have backgrounds in forces families.

Linda Whittaker said:
“Signing the Armed Forces Covenant means that we as an organisation will do our utmost to uphold key principles that no member of the armed forces community should face disadvantage in the provision of our services compared to any other citizen, while in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.”

As an armed forces-friendly organisation, Tai Tarian will also support the employment of veterans and their families in a number of ways, including recognition of military skills in their recruitment process, and being sensitive the pressures facing employees from forces families when a loved one is on deployment.

Tai Tarian’s armed forces covenant was signed at the Neath Port Talbot Armed Forces Festival in Port Talbot on 26th October.
