Volunteers being presented with certificates

Neath Port Talbot social housing provider, Tai Tarian has honoured its loyal volunteers at a special event.  The celebration which took place at St Theodore’s Church in Taibach was held to coincide with Volunteers Week, a national campaign which highlights the contribution made by volunteers across the UK.

The event saw some of Tai Tarian’s tenants recognised for the time they spend volunteering with the social housing provider.  Each individual who has worked 10 hours or more for the organisation was presented with a commemorative certificate.

Volunteers at Tai Tarian are rewarded with a Time Credits system which allows tenants to gain a credit for every hour of time they spend volunteering with the housing provider.  These can then be exchanged for goods or services at various local businesses.

Pearl Wensley was one tenant who was honoured at the ceremony.  She said:
"I have been volunteering for Tai Tarian for a number of years.  I find volunteering very rewarding as I get to meet so many new and interesting people and it allows me to help my local community.”

Tenant Empowerment Assistant at Tai Tarian, Amy Hines said:
“Holding this event during Volunteers Week seemed like the perfect opportunity to honour the dedicated team of volunteers we have here.  Each one brings their own unique skills and experience to their respective roles and we are extremely grateful to them for the time they give to us.

We have a wide range of volunteer roles here and I would urge anyone interested in helping out to get in touch with us.”
