Mr & Mrs Griffiths

A family run business in Skewen has praised Tai Tarian’s decision to invest in the area.

Clive and Carol Griffiths, who have run C&C Stores on Burrows Road for the last 25 years, have welcomed the social housing provider’s decision to build new homes on a site adjacent to their shop.

The development is currently seeing 12 flats, four houses and a bungalow being built on the site of the former Cartref flats complex.  The properties will help meet demand for new homes in the area and is being carried out by Neath based contractor, Hale Construction.

Speaking about the work, Mr & Mrs Griffiths said:
“The new homes will be a welcome addition to the area, and we are particularly pleased to see that they will be used for social housing as this is something that is desperately needed in the area.

“We were sorry to see the old flats come down as the residents there were very much part of the community, but the different types of properties currently being built should see a nice mix of people, including families, moving into the area.

“Many people come into the shop during the day and the vast majority are pleased to see new homes being built.

“Like them, we haven’t experienced any negative issues during the work.  The site is well run and the builders are all very nice and considerate and even come into the shop to buy their lunch.  Tai Tarian also keep us up to date on progress and are always available to answer any queries we may have.”

Steve Grey is Tai Tarian’s Tenant Liaison Officer for the area around the building site.
“Creating great homes and great communities is very important to us and this development does just that.

“During any construction work, we always strive to keep local residents, businesses, schools and groups up to date on progress and always appreciate hearing from them.  We were really pleased to learn of Mr & Mrs Griffiths’ response to the development and the positive impact they think it will have on the community.”

Residents living near the site and have any queries relating to the development can contact Steve Grey, Tenant Liaison Officer on 07816 796318 or e-mail steve.grey@taitarian.co.uk
