Suni's delight as scaffolding career hits the heights
Back in 2019 we met Suni, one of our young tenants who was just embarking on a career as a scaffolder with one of our contractors, ASW Scaffolding.
Now, two years later, we’ve caught up with him again to see how he’s getting on:
When we first met Suni Minto, he had just started working as an apprentice scaffolder with ASW Scaffolding, one of our main providers of scaffolding.
His opportunity came about as a result of our community benefits scheme, an initiative that requires our contractors to give something back to the community – in this case it was a job opportunity to a local resident.
Suni had just trained to become a plasterer but decided it wasn’t for him and turned his attention to scaffolding…and that has paid dividends.
Two years on from our first meeting, he is now a fully qualified scaffolder:
“It’s been an incredible two years for me. ASW Scaffolding have been great in giving this opportunity to me.
“I thoroughly enjoy the work, being outside and working with a great bunch of people. I now have all my scaffolding qualifications and am shortly due to take my HGV driving test, so I’ll be able drive the lorries.
"I’m even being given the opportunity to help train some of the newer members of the team. I’ve learned so much from the more experience scaffolders on the team, hopefully I can now pass this knowledge on to the youngsters.
“I’m really grateful for all the support ASW Scaffolding has given me over the past two years and to the Tai Tarian community benefits programme for giving me the opportunity too.”
