Success for Tai Tarian Volunteer Groups
Two of Tai Tarian’s volunteer groups have scooped awards at the Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) awards.
The Haven Social Group won the Health and Wellbeing in the Community award in recognition for the work they do in organising social activities and alleviating loneliness amongst tenants at our Haven independent living complexes.
The Academy, which is made up of a group of tenants who review the housing providers’ performance and make recommendations to the board, were recognised in the Community Impact category.
The awards, which were held at the Baglan Community Church, are now in their 16th year. This year they had the theme of ‘Volunteering for All’ and recognised community groups from across Neath Port Talbot.
Speaking after the ceremony, Alex Jenkins, Tai Tarian’s Tenant Empowerment Assistant said:
“The awards given to both groups are extremely well deserved. Our volunteer tenants put a considerable amount of time and effort into the groups and I’m delighted their hard work has been recognised in this way.”
Valerie Scavolo, who is a member of the Haven Social Group said:
“I’m really proud to be part of the group and to have won this award. I really enjoy the work we do and hopefully we help make a difference to the lives of our members.”
