Sheltered Housing Celebration Hailed a Success
Tenants in NPT Homes’ Sheltered Schemes attended the first ever Sheltered Housing Celebration Event on Friday 12th February 2016.
The event showcased sheltered tenants’ skills and talents and also celebrated the success of the Sheltered Housing Review, especially the role of NPT Homes’ Ambassadors. These are a group of tenants who helped organise this event and shape the new older person service.
The free event was the first of its kind and was met with overwhelming enthusiasm with many of the 110 tenants who attended providing entertainment and music for all to enjoy.
The Ambassadors organised the event by regularly getting together to share ideas and discuss event plans and progress. The group sourced a venue, organised transport, refreshments and held rehearsals and auditions for the afternoon’s entertainment.
The new names for NPT Homes’ sheltered housing and its support services were also revealed on the day.
NPT Homes’ Tenant, Mrs Richards, said:
“I had a wonderful time at the celebration event. The live music was lovely and it was great spending the afternoon catching up with others from different schemes in the borough.
It was so much fun and really useful to find out more about the new service and how this will enhance the lives of people living in NPT Homes’ properties and the local community.”
NPT Homes’ Tenant Empowerment Officer, Amy Hines, said:
“The Ambassadors have done a fantastic job and tenants really enjoyed the afternoon.
It has been a great opportunity to celebrate the lives and skills of those living in sheltered. As people age, their skills and knowledge can sometimes be overlooked and this event is an opportunity to celebrate their abilities whilst also providing key updates to services and bringing together friends from across the borough.”
