SAM Drylining

Tai Tarian’s work to upgrade and improve the quality of its homes in the Afan Valley has received the seal of approval from tenants.

The work in Cwmafan is seeing the social housing provider work with Treorchy-based contractors SAM Drylining to extract old cavity wall insulation from homes and replace it with more effective external wall insulation.  The work also includes the rendering of homes, and in some cases roofs being replaced.

The work is part of a Tai Tarian investment which looks to make its homes more energy efficient, whilst reducing heating bills for tenants.  Over the course of 2019/20, the work in Cwmafan will see almost 100 properties benefitting from the work.  Similar work is currently underway in the Cimla, Sandfields and Velindre areas of Neath Port Talbot with the work being undertaken by the Joyner Group.

One couple to have already benefitted are Ian and Suzanne Thomas of Heol Tabor.  They said:
“The work done to our home is brilliant and we can feel the benefit already.  We had the heating on briefly last night and the house is still warm this morning.  It’s going to make the house a lot cosier over the coming winter and of course we’ll also save a lot of money on our energy bills.”

Residents have also been commenting on the work of contractors, SAM Drylining. Sarah Webb, also of Heol Tabor said:
“SAM Drylining has been superb.  We’ve been kept updated on progress every step of the way and every one of their workers has been exceptional.  They were all polite, friendly and approachable.  They worked hard but kept the noise and disruption to an absolute minimum.  It was a pleasure to have them working here.

The quality of their work is excellent too.  My friends are now very jealous of how good my home looks!”

Project Manager, Lee Barrett from SAM Drylining, who carried out the work said:
“We have very high standards in all aspects of our work, especially customer satisfaction.  Therefore, we were thrilled to hear such positive feedback from the customers and are glad to hear that they are already enjoying the benefits the new insulation brings to their homes.”

Nadine Thomas is Tai Tarian’s Tenant Liaison Officer and kept tenants in touch with developments throughout the work.  She said:
“It’s been a pleasure having SAM Drylining working with us on this project.  We’ve only been working with them since the start of the year, so we were delighted to receive such positive feedback from tenants regarding the quality of their work and the friendliness of their staff.”
