The five apprentices

NPT Homes, the largest social housing provider in South West Wales has just invested in the future skills of the community, by taking on 5 new apprentices.

This brand new 18 month Level 3 Multi Trade Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship attracted lots of interest and the high number of applications received resulted in an intensive recruitment process.

Candidates went head to head to demonstrate their passion for construction and NPT Homes were so impressed with the high quality of candidates that instead of taken on 4 apprentices as planned, this figure was increased to 5.

NPT Homes is delighted to welcome Tomos Grace, Fraser Richards, Joshua Hambley, Morgan Jones and Shane Lewis, all of whom live locally.

The multi trade qualification will include skills in carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, plumbing, painting, roofing and labouring work.
When qualified, the successful applicants will be equipped to enjoy a varied and engaging work environment, carrying out a wide range of repair and maintenance work in both occupied and empty properties.

New apprentice Fraser Richards said:
“I’ve been working in construction for 6 years and when I saw the multiskilled opportunity with NPT Homes I jumped at the chance to join the organisation.
I’m looking forward to developing my skills further over the next 18 months and seeing how successful former apprenticeships have been with the organisation has really given me something to aim for.”

Gareth John, Head of Property and Maintenance, added:
“This unique apprenticeship opportunity will allow Tomos, Fraser, Joshua, Morgan and Shane to earn while they learn in a diverse sector gaining a real qualification and a real future.”
