NPT Homes tenant a hit at local youth centre
A NPT Homes tenant has been passing on her knowledge to the young people, whilst also picking up new skills herself.
Jenny Davies from Tairgwaith in the Amman Valley has been volunteering her time at the village’s Youth Centre, helping local youngsters with arts and crafts, especially card making. As well as assisting with the crafts, Jenny has also donated a significant amount of her card making equipment and other materials to the centre.
Jenny said:
“I really enjoy visiting the Youth Centre every week and passing on my skills and knowledge to the younger generation. The youngsters are always keen to learn and I am really pleased with some of the card designs that they have been coming up with”.
Jenny’s contribution at the Youth Centre has been warmly welcomed with the children being overwhelmed by the donations and support which they have received.
As well as passing on her knowledge, Jenny has been picking up some new skills herself, taking part in NPT Homes’ Digital Helpers project. The project aims to teach people new to IT how to get online. Although she has only recently picked up these skills, she has already been using the internet to find new ideas to support her card designs and to find new suppliers.
NPT Homes’ Tenant Empowerment Officer, Janet Weaver said:
“We are always pleased to see our tenants become actively involved in their communities and am thrilled that Jenny’s contribution to Tairgwaith Youth Centre has been so warmly received.
We’re also pleased to see, that as well as sharing her knowledge, Jenny is learning new skills as part of our Digital Helpers project which aims to give our tenants greater confidence to get to grips with the internet”.
