NPT Homes Installs 7000th Kitchen
A major improvement programme by NPT Homes has seen 7,000 households across Neath Port Talbot receive brand new kitchens. The work is part of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) improvement programme and will see properties across Neath Port Talbot brought up to modern standards by 2017.
The latest kitchen to be installed was at the property of Mr David Evans in Skewen, with the work carried out by NPT Homes’ contractor, Jistcourt.
Like all tenants who have benefited from the programme so far, Mr Evans was given a choice of tiles, cupboards, work surfaces and flooring. This is part of the organisation’s commitment to give tenants a range of options to choose from when undergoing WHQS work.
As part of the installation process, each tenant is assigned a Tenant Liaison Officer (TLO) from NPT Homes who are on hand to guide tenants through the process and answer any questions they may have.
Mr Evans said:
“I am really happy with my new, modern kitchen. I was also impressed with the whole project and was kept fully informed of developments the whole time. The work carried out was of an extremely high standard and I was really impressed by the workers from Jistcourt who were highly professional and polite at all times.”
NPT Homes’ chief executive, Linda Whittaker, said:
“Since our WHQS programme began back in the autumn of 2011, we have invested over £117 million in bringing our properties up to standard. I am so pleased to be able to say that we have now fitted our 7,000th kitchen and are well on target to complete the upgrade to our properties by 2017.”
As well as reaching the 7,000th kitchen milestone, work has also been completed on 6555 new bathrooms, 4339 rewires and 5315 new heating systems as part of the improvement programme. NPT Homes has also carried out 1922 roof replacements and 2322 window and door installations. The external works element of the WHQS programme has also seen NPT Homes carry out 2558 external wall insulations and renders.
