NPT Homes Holds Literature Wales Workshops in Sandfields
NPT Homes has linked up with Literature Wales, who represent the interests of Welsh writers, to provide tenants with workshops in creative writing and storytelling.
The purpose of the workshops is to provide tenants with the tools and skills needed to develop individual stories or poetry based around their community.
The finished stories will be published on the NPT Homes’ website and in The Grapevine tenant newsletter.
Six workshops will be held in Sandfields Library, Port Talbot for budding writers. The first workshops took place on Tuesday 22nd September.
The next workshop will be held on Tuesday 29th September at 10am – 12 noon for 16-25 year olds and 1pm and 3pm for tenants of NPT Homes’ sheltered schemes.
NPT Homes’ Tenant Empowerment Officer, Kathryn Cook, said:
“This project with Literature Wales gives tenants the opportunity to express themselves through creative writing. Through writing on a subject they are comfortable with, such as the area that they live, could spark the drive to go on and explore the world of writing and literature further.
Literature Wales works with the support of the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government and its many projects and activities include Wales Book of the Year and the National Poet of Wales.”
