Age Cymru accept donation from NPT Homes

NPT Homes’ employees and sheltered residents have de-cluttered recently to do their bit for Age Cymru.
The social housing provider took part in the charities Age Positive week, a national celebration of all that is positive about ageing and the contribution older people make to our communities.
Countering the negative stereotyping of older people and ageism forms a key part of the work of NPT Homes’ Equality and Diversity group and a series of events took place during the week to raise awareness of the project.

The organisation wanted to make a difference to Age Cymru to commemorate the week and were inundated with employees’ unwanted clothing and bric and brac, with sheltered residents also doing their bit in providing additional good quality items.

Corporate Services Officer Karen Neale said:

"Our equalities group really wanted to embrace Age Positive Week and felt it was a good opportunity to make a donation to Age Cymru in the form of items for their charity shops.
The sheer volume of items collected meant that Age Cymru had to make three trips to collect the 30 bags of items which will now be distributed to their stores in South Wales.”

Ruth Jones, Retail Development Officer at Age Cymru said:
“During Age Positive Week we celebrated all that is positive about ageing, kindly supported by NPT Homes’ employees and sheltered residents.
We are so grateful for NPT Homes’ incredibly generous donations to our Age Cymru shops.
These donations are invaluable in supporting the work of our charity, with every penny spent supporting vulnerable older people in Neath Port Talbot and Wales-wide.
Being ‘age positive’ is a vital part of our vision to creating an age friendly Wales.”
