NPT Homes’ Digital Champions Support Sheltered Scheme Residents
NPT Homes’ Digital Champions have helped 11 residents at Pant Y Fedwen Sheltered Scheme to get online.
NPT Homes’ tenant award winner and Digital Champion Eddie Rawles helped residents, including Ben Morgan, aged 91, to improve their computer skills.
Ben said:
“This is my first experience of using a computer and I learnt to type my name. I really enjoyed it! I will attend future sessions to see what else I can learn as you are never too old to learn a new skill after all! I am grateful to NPT Homes’ Digital Champions for spending time with us. It is a great opportunity and I recommend it to anyone.”
The sessions for residents will continue at Pant Y Fedwen Sheltered Scheme every Thursday afternoon until Thursday 10th September. The success and value in the sessions will then be reviewed.
Digital Champions are a tenant-led group who are supporting other tenants, particularly tenants living in sheltered housing, to understand the benefits of being digitally aware and enhancing their skills. The group has been set up following the success of the award winning ‘Get NPT Online Project’.
Activities include raising awareness of the benefits of being digitally included and providing basic, informal guidance and support on how to use digital technology. This includes turning the device on and off, getting on-line and how to do basic internet searches.
If you would like to become a Digital Champion or you would like to receive advice or basic computer training, please contact the Tenant Empowerment Team 01639 505904 or email involved@npthomes.co.uk.
