NPT Homes has returned to Blaenbaglan Primary School to complete the makeover of the playground it transformed as part of the 2016 Community Challenge.

NPT Homes, together with contractors United Living have created an outdoor learning area and installed raised flower beds and a new, safe rubber flooring.

As well as Blaenbaglan’s pupils, local community groups will also benefit from the makeover, with the Baglan Buddies community childcare group also looking forward to using the facilities.

The work at Blaenbaglan Primary School was one of eight community projects that were undertaken this year as part of NPT Homes’ Community Challenge.

The programme began in 2012 as a direct result of the community benefits that became part of all contracts drawn up by NPT Homes. As a result, any business that works directly with the social housing provider must give something back to the community.

The partnership programme involved 12 of NPT Homes’ main contractors and suppliers, and saw projects from across the Neath Port Talbot Borough benefit from free building or maintenance work.

Speaking about the makeover, Blaenbaglan Headteacher Peter Curnow said:

“As a school we are always looking to give our pupils the best environment and resources that we can and by taking part in NPT Homes’ Community Challenge we were able to do just that. We are pleased to see the finished product and the children are thrilled with their new facilities.”

Delme Kristaps of United Living added:

“We are delighted to be able to help NPT Homes with their Community Challenge and give the children at Blaenbaglan a playground they can be proud of. It was a lot of hard work from my colleague Darren Morris and NPT Homes’ Laura Grey and Nadie Sacchi that made sure that this project was completed and I’m sure the children will enjoy playing here.”
