NPT Homes Completes Biggest Ever Community Challenge Programme
NPT Homes has completed its biggest ever Community Challenge programme, having a huge impact on eight local projects, including schools, churches and community halls.
School yards have been transformed, churches and community halls have been treated to new kitchens and gallons of paint have been used to spruce up local facilities.
The partnership programme involved 12 of NPT Homes’ main contractors and suppliers, who, as part of their contracts with the social housing provider must give something back to the community. They provided their skills and expertise in undertaking the projects and were joined by over 20 members of staff from NPT Homes who volunteered their time. In total over 350 hours were spent working on the different projects.
Andrew Hall of NPT Homes said:
“This year was our fourth Community Challenge and the programme continues to go from strength to strength. We had many applications and we were able to help a record eight different communities with their projects.
Our contractors are all keen to give back to our local communities and our staff also took advantage of our give back initiative, allowing them to take time away from their day job to spend volunteering.
It was pleasing to see so many contractors and staff volunteering to help with these projects and they can be very proud of their efforts.”
One of the projects to have benefitted from a makeover was Sandfields Methodist Church in Port Talbot. Speaking on their behalf, Peter Davies said:
“The work completed by NPT Homes and their partners has been wonderful. The new kitchen we received has given the church a new lease of life and means that we can now become a hub for many community activities.”
The Community Challenge will return in 2017 and any community projects who wish to take part can apply from December 2016.
