NPT Homes Begins Major Refurbishment Work at Baglan Flats
NPT Homes is about to embark on a major redevelopment in Port Talbot.
The block of flats at Greenwood Road in Baglan were built in the 1950s and the six apartments are receiving a complete refurbishment, both inside and out to revive them and bring them up to modern standards.
Occupied by several NPT Homes tenants, the residents have been moved to other, more suitable accommodation including sheltered schemes and properties especially adapted for disabled tenants.
One tenant to have moved out of the flats is Ernie Ashman. He has taken up residence in one of the NPT Homes’ Haven Housing schemes where he has settled in well. Mr Ashman said:
“Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my time living at Greenwood Road, the time was right for me to move to more suitable accommodation, where I now feel very much at home. The flats in Greenwood Road were badly in need of a makeover and I’m glad to see this is happening and hope whoever moves in will be as happy there as I was.”
Overseeing the tenants’ move is NPT Homes Senior Tenant Liaison Officer, Gareth Davies. He said:
“Greenwood Road flats are badly in need of refurbishment to bring them up to modern standards. We are pleased that we are now in a position to begin the work and fully appreciate the co-operation of the tenants in vacating the flats. I am pleased to hear they are settling in well in their new accommodation.”
Once complete, the flats will be re-let as a premium property under NPT Homes’ MyPad banner, where preference is given to those earning over £15,000 and currently working or living in the Neath Port Talbot area.
The refurbishment is due to be completed in summer 2017.
