Cymmer Community Library

NPT Homes has helped write a new chapter at a local library as part of its 2016 Community Challenge.

Cymmer Afan Library is the one of eight projects to benefit from a free makeover and saw volunteers from NPT Homes roll up their sleeves to clear an outdoor communal space for the library and its members to enjoy.

The library which is run by volunteers, is a community facility based in the heart of Cymmer in the Afan Valley. In their application for NPT Homes’ Community Challenge, the library asked for a communal area clean up that could be used as a seating area for the library’s newly opened café.

Volunteers carried out the clean-up and also laid a suitable ground covering so the area can be easily maintained in the future.

Sarah Deeley of Cymmer Afan Library said:

“Being part of the 2016 Community Challenge has been really beneficial for us. The work carried out has cleared the side of the building of overgrown weeds and brambles and has transformed it into an area that can now be used by members of the community.

We intend using the area as a seating area for the library’s customers to sit and enjoy a cup of tea, read a book or simply take in the beautiful views up the Afan Valley.”

Andrew Hall co-ordinates the community challenge on behalf of NPT Homes. He said:

“We are delighted that our 2016 Community Challenge is able to offer a record eight community projects the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of ourselves, our contractors and suppliers.

More contractors and suppliers than ever before have been willing to take part in the project along with NPT Homes employees who all want give something back to their communities.”
