New homes welcome first tenants
Tai Tarian’s latest housing development has welcomed its first tenants.
Pant Celydd in Margam consists of a mixture of houses and flats with between one and four bedrooms, built by local contractors, CJ Construction.
Head of Development at Tai Tarian, Andrew Hall said:
“In the face of rising demand for social housing in our region, we are proud to have worked with our development partners and current tenants to deliver these homes.
“Tai Tarian is committed to developing safe, secure and affordable new homes, whilst maintaining our existing properties to the highest possible standard. Our goal is to help meet demand for energy efficient homes, with the support of our wider stakeholders and funders.”
Tai Tarian’s Housing Operations Manager Chris Edwards said:
“This development has been completed as planned and properties have been allocated to those in urgent housing need in accordance with our Lettings plan due to great partnership working.
“The addition of one-bedroom flats has helped to increase our supply of that property type in the Margam area where demand for accommodation is high.”
Some households have already moved in, and have given their feedback, with one resident saying:
“Finally I got a home I can bring up my daughter in, with lovely views of the mountain.
“After moving from between hotels and emergency accommodation with no proper cooking facilities, it is nice to finally have a property I can call home.”
The development is part of the creation of homes across Neath Port Talbot.
At Meadow Road in Neath, the construction of 52 homes, consisting of apartments, bungalows and family homes, is underway.
At County Flats in Sandfields, tenants have moved into the new block called Golwg Dur, and work is progressing on phase two. There, 24 of the existing homes are being redeveloped with an additional 15 new homes being built.
In Port Talbot town centre on the site of the old Eagle House, groundwork has started ready for 18 new flats to be built.
Once ready for letting, these homes with be advertised on Homes by Choice on the ‘Find a Home’ section of the Tai Tarian website.
