Tai Tarian is building more homes in three prime locations across Neath Port Talbot, in an investment worth £5.5m.

The social housing provider is committed to increasing the number of homes they have available at affordable rent and will soon start building in Briton Ferry and Port Talbot, with work in Caewern already underway.

The biggest project will see Parc Newydd, the last of the high rise ‘Saltings’ flats in Briton Ferry, demolished to make way for a mix of 31 houses and apartments.

Parc Newydd is the largest new build development Tai Tarian has undertaken to date and will be headed up by Llanelli based Morganstone, who built Tai Tarian’s first ever new builds in Melyn in 2015.

Elsewhere 10, two-bed, apartments will be built at Evelyn Terrace, Port Talbot by local contractor CJ Construction Wales, and a further four, two-bed, energy efficient houses and bungalow will be built at Llys Wern, Caewern by KWIC Solutions, supported by Tai Tarian’s own workforce.

Parc Newydd is due to completed towards the end of 2020, Evelyn Terrace by mid-2020 and Llys Wern by Christmas 2019.

All projects have been made possible thanks to the help of a social housing grant from Welsh Government and support from Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.

Speaking about the developments, Tai Tarian Interim Director of Assets, Steve Tucker, said:
“Demand for high quality, affordable properties to rent in Neath Port Talbot is high.

Building 46 homes will not only help alleviate some of these pressures but give people homes they can be proud of.

We are also committed to making our new homes highly energy efficient with integrated solar panels, extra insulation, ventilation and LED lighting. This will not only to benefit our tenants and reduce their energy consumption but also have a positive impact on the wider environment.

We are looking forward to working with our trio of Welsh contractors, Morganstone, CJ Construction and KWIC Solutions to deliver these projects over the next 18 months.”

Angela Thomas, Head of Commissioning and Support Services at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council said:
“The delivery of affordable housing is a key priority for the Council and I am delighted that our partnership with Tai Tarian will see these delivered in high demand areas”
