New developments for 2021
Our commitment to providing the community with sustainable homes continues in 2021.
During the year, work will commence on three new projects – Five new bungalows will be built at Llys Wern in Caewern, adding to a further 13 properties we’ve built in the area in recent years. We’ll also be building 10 new homes at Cae Nant Terrace in Skewen whilst the Big Cam pub on Windsor Road in the centre of Neath will be re-developed to create 10 new flats.
At Parc Newydd in Briton Ferry, Morganstone are building 31 new homes. The development, which is on the site of the old Saltings estate represents our biggest single development to date. It will comprise 12 one-bedroom apartments, 6 two-bedroom apartments, 10 two-bedroom houses, 2 three-bedroom houses and a four-bedroom home.
At Melyn Close, the existing block of flats was demolished last autumn and CJ Construction have started work to build three smaller blocks in their place. The new development will create a total of 14, one-bedroom flats and 6, two-bedroom flats. The plans also include the provision of car parking and cycle storage with the surrounding area also being landscaped.
In keeping with our pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030, the new homes will be highly energy efficient with integrated solar panels, more efficient combi-boilers, and extra insulation. They will also feature extra ventilation and LED lighting.
The development has been welcomed by Melyn Close residents. One of them said:
“I’m so glad to see the old flats demolished and I can’t wait to see the new ones spring up.
"There has inevitably been some disruption caused by the work, but the builders have been great. They’ve kept us up to date with what’s happening and they even cleaned our cars and windows to keep them free of dust from the site.”
The new homes at Parc Newydd will be opened during 2021 and Melyn Close is due to be copleted in early 2022. Plans to build more new homes are currently in development and will be announced in due course.
