Residents of Mozart Court, Sandfields have been busy raising money for Alzheimer’s Society through the buying and selling of their unwanted goods.

With major renovation works currently underway at Mozart Court, part of NPT Homes’ Haven Housing, residents decided the time was right to have clear out of their unwanted possessions.

However, instead of binning the items, the residents decided to sell the items to each other and then donate the proceeds to Alzheimer’s Society, NPT Homes’ chosen charity for 2016.

June Brayley, one of the residents taking part in the sale said:

“The sale has been a great idea. Not only have I got rid of unwanted items, I’ve also been able to buy myself a new chair from one of the other residents. On top of that we’ve also been able to make a contribution to a very worthy cause in Alzheimer’s Society”

Tania Hearne, NPT Homes’ Accommodation Assistant at Mozart Court said

“There’s a real close knit community feel amongst the residents at Mozart Court. When they decided to have a clear out of their unwanted possessions, they were only too pleased to be able to sell them on and donate the proceeds to Alzheimer’s Society.

So far, the residents have managed to raise £114 for the charity.

Alzheimer’s Society was chosen by NPT Homes’ staff as their nominated charity for 2016. Money raised throughout the year will be donated to the charity to help them to provide support and continuously research new ways to tackle this life changing illness.
