Low-risk repairs resume

Repairs staff

With lockdown restrictions easing further and life returning to more normality, more of our services have been able to resume.

Following on from the re-introduction of services such as grounds maintenance, external improvements and housing applications, we are now pleased to confirm that some routine repairs have also re-started.

Whilst emergency repairs continued throughout lockdown, routine repairs were put on hold.  Now, repairs classed as ‘low-risk’ have resumed, albeit with a few temporary changes to ensure staff, tenants and contractors remain safe.

When you contact us to report a repair, one of advisors will determine if the work is low-risk and if an appointment can be booked over the phone.  Examples of low-risk work include gutter repairs, gully unblocking and fence or gate repairs.

In addition, our inspectors will also be available over the phone to assess other issues. They will ask for details about the problem and try to diagnose the issue and see what work is required.

They will then either advise you how to rectify the problem, arrange for repairs to be booked in or arrange to visit your home for a closer inspection if this is deemed necessary.

It is important to note that we are still not able to attend all repairs as we have to risk assess all jobs. Those considered too high risk and not an emergency will be logged and placed on hold until we are in a safe position to carry out the work in-line with Government advice.

If you need to report a repair or need advice please call our usual number of 0300 777 3000 or e-mail repairs@taitarian.co.uk

Keeping safe
The health and safety of our staff and tenants is paramount when dealing with requests for repairs.

If a staff member needs to visit your home to asses or carry out a repair you will be asked the following questions when the booking is made.

  • Does anyone at the property have a COVID-19 diagnosis or symptoms, awaiting test results or self-isolating?
  • Is anyone at the property shielding or high risk?
  • Are you happy for me to visit?

These questions will also be asked immediately before any of our staff enter your home, either via telephone or face-to-face, from a safe distance. This will ensure we have the most up to date information and will make us aware of any changes that may have occurred since the original appointment was made.

In addition to this, staff entering your home will be provided with appropriate PPE to wear.
