Local Schools and Education providers are invited to Bee Part of Special NPT Homes Project
NPT Homes, one of the largest social housing providers in Wales is on the hunt for local school children or students to get involved with a unique community garden project based at their head office, Tŷ Gwyn in Baglan.
Earlier this year there was a real buzz around Tŷ Gwyn when 30,000 bees took up residence in specially constructed hives in the office grounds. The bees have settled in well but now the organisation wants to give local schools and colleges the opportunity to not only learn more about bees and their impact on our environment with our resident bee keeper, but also help enhance their natural habitat by creating bug hotels, bird houses, planting flowers and a vegetable garden.
The project which will start in April and will see pupils descend on Tŷ Gwyn in the Summer months to get in touch with nature and outdoor experiences while having a positive impact on their education, physical health, emotional wellbeing and personal and social skills.
Resident Beekeeper at NPT Homes, Jonathan Morris said:
“The wellbeing of our employees has always been high on our agenda so the opportunity to support our local school children and college students by allowing them to play, grow and learn is a real positive for us”
Local schools and education providers have been contacted by NPT Homes inviting them to take part in the exciting project. For more information please contact Kelly.mordecai@npthomes.co.uk or call 01639 505852.
