Local Port Talbot School £5,000 Richer Thanks to NPT Homes
St Joseph’s School and Sixth Form in Port Talbot is £5,000 richer thanks to NPT Homes’ recent Community Development Fund.
The school applied in July to build an outdoor learning facility and community space for the pupils and local residents to enjoy.
NPT Homes’ Community Development Fund is an annual initiative set up to provide financial support for environmental projects in the Borough and has awarded £18,000 across five different projects this year, one of which being St Joseph’s School in Port Talbot.
Assistant Head Teacher, Mr Steven Jones, said:
“The new outdoor learning space and community garden will become a vibrant, interactive space for students to learn and develop. For some students in year 12 this project falls within the skills challenge part of the curriculum and will see many of them getting involved with the makeover as part of the community section of their skills challenge.
The £5,000 we received from NPT Homes’ Community Development Fund is fantastic and will help us to get our environmental project off the ground.”
NPT Homes’ Funding Officer, Andrew Hall, said:
“NPT Homes is committed to supporting and investing in the local community through the environmental element of our improvement programme. The Community Development Fund is a great way of providing local people with the opportunity to apply for funding that will increase community cohesion, education and pride of place.
This year we have awarded £18,000 between five different projects and the successful applicants are Rhos Primary School, St Joseph’s Comprehensive School, Forward 4 Fairyland Community Group, Tonna Primary School and Cymmer Afan Community Library.
The cheques have now been issued to fund the work and we are looking forward to seeing the finished results.”
