Information Day To Help Keep Tenants Safe From Fires
Tai Tarian is to host a community fire safety awareness day next month in a bid to keep the public as safe as possible in their homes.
The event will be held between 10am-3pm on Wednesday 1st November at the NSA Afan Community Development Centre, Bevin Avenue in Sandfields. It will feature a number of information stalls as well as exhibitions advising visitors on how they can minimise the risk of fires starting and spreading.
Tai Tarian’s Repairs and Compliance team will be available to offer advice along with South Wales Police and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service who will be bringing along one of their fire engines.
The event follows on from the housing provider’s recently launched campaign advising tenants of the risk of potential fires due to keeping items in communal areas.
Hundreds of leaflets have been delivered by Tai Tarian staff to each of its flats, warning residents about the fire risks associated with cluttered communal areas. Staff also tagged any items they saw in those areas, advising tenants that they must be removed.
Speaking ahead of the event, Tai Tarian Tenancy Relations Officer, Julie Stewart said:
“We are really looking forward to this event. It is a great opportunity for local residents to come along and meet Tai Tarian staff whilst also picking up some useful information which will ensure that their homes are as safe as possible.
Whilst this day is designed to be a fun, family event, there is a serious message behind it and that is the importance of staying safe in our homes.”
The event is free to attend and is open to everyone.
