Helping to keep communities fit and fed
The summer holidays were a busy time for our Economic and Social Regeneration team.
Linking up with NPT PASS (Physical Activity and Sport Service), the Youth Service, several summer camps and even a Teddy Bears Picnic, we donated 390 lunches to ensure children were kept fed and watered during activities.
In addition, hundreds of snack packs were shared at community events in Seven Sisters and Sandfields and we donated ingredients to Cook Stars for some wonderful sessions teaching children how to cook tasty treats.
Donations of equipment were also made to several community fun days whilst local food banks continued to receive monthly donations.
Rebecca Thomas, Economic and Social Regeneration Manager said:
“The long school holidays can be a challenge for many families, especially during this cost-of-living crisis, so these activity camps are vital in keeping children fed and active.
“We were only too pleased to help out and donate packed lunches for the children to enjoy.”
The lunches were provided by our Community Benefits initiative, which sees our contractors giving something back to our communities. Those who contributed to these donations were:
- Joyner’s Ltd
- Jones Brothers
- JG Hale
- Carl F Group
- LBS
- Westward Energy Services
- ASW Scaffolding
- Lighting Solutions
Tai Tarian staff also contributed through their Act of Kindness fund, whilst members of our Academy, our tenant advisory group, also contributed to our food bank donations.
