Haven Housing schemes win awards
Two of Tai Tarian’s Haven Housing schemes have won bronze at the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) Awards 2019.
Tŷ Gnoll Newydd in Neath and Gwyn Court in Port Talbot are just two of 300 similar schemes to have won a top prize, out of the almost 25,000 retirement housing schemes in the UK.
The awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate the best in specialist accommodation for older people, and aim to help shape the future of housing in later life.
The accolades come after the schemes took part in a poll, with almost 19,000 members of the public voting for their favourite schemes.
Leah Manna, Independent Living Team Leader at Tai Tarian said:
“We’re thrilled to have won this award as it means that staff, residents and visitors are really happy with the scheme.
Over the last few years, Tŷ Gnoll Newydd and Gwyn Court, as well as our other Haven schemes, have undergone extensive refurbishments. This has resulted in them becoming bright, spacious and modern places to live and has helped create vibrant communities for the residents to enjoy. We’re pleased to see that this investment has been recognised by these prestigious awards.”
John Galvin, EAC’s Chief Executive, explained the importance of the awards: "Specialist housing for older people plays an enormously significant role in helping them stay independent for longer. The security, support and great communities have a positive impact on individuals and reduce the need for NHS services.”
