Tai Tarian is celebrating after scooping a hat-trick of wins at the recent Wales HR Awards, which recognise the achievements of HR professionals across Wales.

The Neath Port Talbot social housing provider was named HR Team of the Year and its organisational development specialist Kelly Mordecai won Best HR Professional in a public or third sector organisation, as well as the overall award of HR Star.

This special award was chosen from the winners of all the other categories on the night and recognised Kelly’s impact on her team, organisation and the local community.

The Wales HR Awards judges highlighted in particular the work done to help the organisation gain the Platinum Corporate Health Standard and improve staff engagement and performance.

Head of Organisational Development at Tai Tarian, Wayne Gwilym said, “It’s been quite a journey of change for the team since I joined the organisation in 2015.  From the start we have set an ambitious programme and the results are now evident, so I’m really happy to see the success that the team have had over the past year.”

Kelly Mordecai, who is based at Tai Tarian headquarters in Baglan, said, “I am thrilled to have been recognised in two categories as well as gaining an award for being part of a great HR team.

“It’s been an amazing year and I’m really proud of the work we have delivered in our Employee Engagement programme and gaining our Platinum Corporate Health Standard which recognises the impact we have made to improve the health and wellbeing of our staff and the local community.”

Launched in 2017, the Awards ceremony is the flagship event of the Wales HR Network and celebrates the valuable contribution made by HR professionals to their organisations across Wales.

Darwin Gray’s Head of Employment Law and HR, Fflur Jones, who helped judge the awards, said, “The team at Tai Tarian are clearly passionate about and focused on delivering their ‘People’ strategy initiatives.

“They work well as a team and there is evidence of strong engagement within the organisation, they clearly communicate with and consult their employees. Their hard work has resulted in fantastic people focused achievements, which has positively impacted their organisational performance.”
