NPT Homes is set to mark Mental Health Awareness Week by hosting a series of workshops and talks promoting mental wellbeing for staff.

Taking place from 8th -14th May Mental Health Week is being promoted by the Mental Health Foundation and aims to uncover why too few of us are thriving with good mental health.

With this in mind, the housing provider will be running almost 20 different events over the course of the week as it aims to promote the importance amongst staff of looking after their mental health and offering support and advice to staff who may be experiencing difficulties.

Events include talks from mental health charities including Gofal, MIND and Cruse as well as workshops from local health and wellbeing providers.  Counsellors will also be available to staff who need support whilst there’ll also be health and fitness ‘MOTs’ from Virgin Active.

One of the most powerful events of the week will be a talk given by three NPT Homes staff to their colleagues on their experiences with mental health, the services they accessed and the support they received as they managed to overcome their illness.

Lorraine Evans, who’s organising the programme on behalf of NPT Homes said:
“We recognise that mental health problems are all too common in the workplace and as an organisation we have a duty to support employees who may be suffering and to ensure they are looking after their own health and wellbeing.

We aim to help break down the stigma associated with mental health and by staging these events we hope to encourage any staff members who may be suffering in silence to come forward and receive the support that they may need.”
