Tai Tarian staff making a Christmas donation to a local food bank

Staff at Baglan-based social housing association Tai Tarian have opted to set up a foodbank collection throughout 2023, with donations going to food banks across Neath Port Talbot.

It comes as last year’s cost of living pressures show no signs of letting up, with rising energy prices hitting everyone from individuals to businesses and organisations.

Community Benefits
The idea has grown out of a close working relationship with food banks across the area in the run-up to Christmas, as the organisation’s social and economic team co-ordinated donations from contractors as part of their “Community Benefits” scheme.

Roxanne Collins from the team said the food banks they were liaising with were reporting a huge surge in demand:
“Before Christmas we were visiting foodbanks across the area thanks to the generous donations of Tai Tarian contractors and staff.

“With Citizens Advice Cymru warning of a looming post-Christmas debt crisis we wanted to make sure the places which people in crisis turn to for the basics remain well-stocked.

“The collection will be distributed each month to a different foodbank to make sure each area is fairly served."
