Flooding update from Tai Tarian
Teams from social housing landlord Tai Tarian have been out and about to homes affected by extremely heavy rain and floods in Neath.
Around 10 centimetres of water came into a number of homes in Mile End Row where housing officers have been checking in on tenants.
Gemma Fouracre is Head of Property and Land Services for the organisation. She said:
“Even a small amount of floodwater can cause significant damage and can be very distressing, so we want to make sure tenants feel supported throughout; whether that’s advising them on insurance steps, removing debris, drying and cleaning the home and offering further support if they are particularly vulnerable.
“We’ll be looking closely at the impact of the recent flooding on the fabric of our buildings and carry out necessary repairs, while planning ahead for any more extreme weather.
“With climate change we are seeing more extreme and unusual weather so we would definitely advise keeping an eye on flood warnings and flood alerts issued by Natural Resources Wales as we go into the storm season.”
