NPT Homes is celebrating after coming out on top at the recent Energy Efficiency & Healthy Homes Awards.

The awards were set up in 2014 and aims to reward organisations for the excellent work they do in implementing energy efficiency schemes.

The social housing provider won in the Regional Housing Association/ Landlord of the Year (Wales) category at the awards ceremony, in recognition of the work that’s been undertaken in bringing its 9000 properties up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS).

The judges were particularly impressed by the large-scale work carried out to make NPT Homes’ properties more energy efficient, including cavity extraction, external wall insulation, new heating systems, re-wires and new windows.

Upon winning the award, Nick Cope, Major Works Manager at NPT Homes said:
WWe are really thrilled with this award and it is a testament to the emphasis that we place on making our homes as energy efficient as possible.  This ensures that we are able to help our tenants to reduce their energy bills as well as tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions.”

Graham Wellington of Skewen was one of the tenants to benefit from the improvements.  He said:
“The difference the work has made to my home is incredible.  The house feels so much warmer now thanks to the insulation that’s been installed and, as an added bonus, I’m also saving money on my energy bills.”

In addition to NPT Homes’ success, one of its main contractors, Jistcourt were also successful at the awards.  The Baglan based building contractors were successful in the Insulation & Fabric Installer of the Year Award category for work they carried out on behalf of NPT Homes. This award recognises the efforts of insulation installers who provide excellent customer service and a high standard of quality workmanship or best practice within their local community.
