Employees Vote Bubble Foundation as NPT Homes’ Chosen Charity for 2017
Following a vote by staff, NPT Homes has announced that The Bubble Foundation will be its chosen charity for 2017.
The charity was established in 1987 to treat babies and children born with defective immune systems by offering them bone marrow transplants. It also treats children suffering from leukaemia and severe forms of arthritis.
The foundation has funded wide-ranging research into improving the bone marrow transplant process and finding better ways of looking after children post-transplant. As a result, the survival rates for children who are treated on the Bubble Unit had risen to 90% by 2015.
The Bubble Foundation was chosen by staff after it helped treat the son of NPT Homes Building Surveyor, Richard Oatway when he was diagnosed with a rare immune disorder. Richard said:
“The Bubble Foundation were fantastic in supporting us as a family whilst Macs underwent treatment for his condition at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital. They provided us with somewhere to stay as well as toys to keep Macs entertained and we are very grateful to them for all their help.”
Gill Johnston, Fundraising Manager at the Bubble Foundation said:
“We are very thankful that NPT Homes has chosen the Bubble Foundation as their 2017 charity. We know that from previous experience NPT Homes staff are very supportive of their chosen charities and we’re sure that this year will be no different. We look forward to supporting their fundraising activities through the year.”
