Cross Community Centre Receives Community Challenge Makeover
The Cross Community Centre in Pontardawe has become the latest facility to receive a makeover as part of NPT Homes’ 2017 Community Challenge.
The centre is a popular hub for many community groups, including the History Society, Angling Society and a playgroup. Volunteers from NPT Homes and its contractor PBM Wales Ltd spent two days repairing, cleaning and decorating the centre’s main meeting room and staircase.
The work is part of NPT Homes’ Community Challenge, a programme that will see eight community projects given a makeover over the coming weeks. The challenge is a joint partnership programme between the housing provider and its main contractors, which allows different community projects to benefit from a day of free building or maintenance work.
The centre’s chairman, Carl Jones said:
“We are absolutely delighted with the difference the community challenge has made to our centre. The work has given our main meeting room a new lease of life, and the groups who use it will really notice a difference.”
Huw Lane of PBM Wales:
“We have really enjoyed being involved with NPT Homes’ Community Challenge this year. It has allowed us the opportunity to get involved in our local communities and we are delighted that the work we have carried out has been so well received. We hope that users of the Cross Community Centre will enjoy their new surroundings.”
The community challenge will continue throughout the summer with Ysgol Tyle’r Ynn in Briton Ferry the next project due to benefit.
