Community Give Back Days Initiative A Hit During Volunteers’ Week
Staff at NPT Homes are marking National Volunteer Week (1-7 June 2017) by taking advantage of the organisation’s Community Give Back Initiative.
The initiative allows employees at the housing provider to take off up to five days a year to volunteer at local projects that benefit communities within Neath Port Talbot.
Nine staff members together with volunteers from NPT Homes contractor, SERS Energy Solutions will come together on Friday 2nd June to help transform Ysgol Tyle’r Ynn in Briton Ferry.
The work, which also forms part of the housing provider’s annual Community Challenge project, will see staff refresh the school’s playground with new raised beds and planters as well completing some painting and DIY work.
The work at Ysgol Tyle’r Ynn is scheduled to take place on Friday 2nd June and forms part of the housing provider’s Community Challenge, a joint partnership programme between them and their main contractors, which allows different community projects to benefit from a day of free building or maintenance work.
NPT Homes’ Communications Assistant, Huw Davies, will be on one employee volunteering on the project. He said:
“It’s fantastic that we get the opportunity to take time out to give something back to our community. The vast majority of staff live locally so it makes it all the more meaningful. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Chief Executive Linda Whittaker added:
“Our Community Give Back Days Initiative is a fantastic opportunity for staff to volunteer and become actively engaged in their local community. The scheme has been really well received by employees who have whole heartedly embraced it.”
