Community Centre Gets Community Challenge Makeover
The Friends and Neighbours Community Centre in Neath is set to become the latest facility to receive a makeover as part of Tai Tarian's 2017 Community Challenge.
The centre is a popular hub for many community activities, including dance groups and slimming clubs.
Volunteers from Tai Tarian and its contractor Jistcourt will spend a day painting, cleaning and tidying the area around the centre.
The work is part of Tai Tarian’s Community Challenge, a programme that will see eight community projects given a makeover over the summer. The challenge is a joint partnership programme between the housing provider and its main contractors, which allows different community projects to benefit from a day of free building or maintenance work.
Emma Knight from the centre said:
“We were delighted to be chosen to be part of this year’s community challenge. As a group, we have just taken on the lease of the hall which had fallen into disrepair. We’re working hard to bring the inside up to scratch but we could really do with some help to make sure the outside of the building is looking just as welcoming.
Tim Gwilliam, Senior Site Manager at Jistcourt:
“We are proud to be working on the community challenge once again this year. Giving something back to the communities in which we operate is very important to us as a company and we can’t wait to get started on this project at the Friends and Neighbours Centre.”
The community challenge will continue throughout the summer with Ysgol Tyle’r Ynn in Briton Ferry and the Resolven Community Centre the next projects due to benefit.
