Tenants at a Tai Tarian residential complex have been digging deep to support a life-saving charity.

Residents at the Llwynon Haven Housing scheme in Crynant managed to raise £2020 for Blood Bikes Wales, a charity which transports emergency blood donations, breast milk, medical samples and surgical items around the country.

The money was raised thanks to a series of social events, concerts, raffles and table top sales held throughout 2017.

Hillary Blunden is one of the tenants who helped raise the money.  She said:
“We have a very close knit community here at Llwynon.  The residents enjoy coming together for social events and so a number of years ago we decided to use them as an opportunity to raise money for good causes.

We’re a very generous bunch and we are proud that we can help charities which often have a personal connection with the residents here.”

Peter Moule from Blood Bikes Wales said:
“Blood Bikes Wales provides an important service in delivering emergency blood supplies at all hours of the day or night.  We also transport breast milk to premature babies, medical samples to hospitals for urgent testing and specialist surgical equipment to wherever it’s needed.

We are entirely funded by charitable donations and so we are very grateful to the residents at Llwynon for their generous donation.  The money will go a long way in helping us continue with this important service.”

Other charities to have benefited from the residents’ generosity over the years include the Kids Cancer Charity, the Stroke Association and the Wales Air Ambulance.
