NPT Homes Takes Their Apprentice Number to 10
NPT Homes, one of the largest social housing providers in Wales has just invested in the future skills of the community, by taking on 5 new apprentices.
The new 24 month Level 2 Multi Trade Building Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship attracted lots of interest and the high number of applications received resulted in an intensive recruitment process.
Candidates went head to head to demonstrate their passion for construction and NPT Homes were so impressed with the high quality of candidates that instead of taking on 4 apprentices as planned, this figure was increased to 5.
NPT Homes is delighted to welcome Junior Jenkins, Calum Powell, Morgan Griffiths, Rory Diplock and Louis Preece, four of whom live locally.
The programme has been designed to up skill as the five have already gained a level 1 or 2 qualification in a craft trade or who have equivalent experience in the construction industry. The multi trade qualification will include skills in carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, plumbing, painting, roofing and labouring work. When qualified, the five will be equipped to enjoy a varied and engaging work environment, carrying out a wide range of repair and maintenance work in both occupied and empty properties.
New apprentice Calum Powell said:
“I applied to the apprenticeship scheme with NPT Homes as I wanted to gain that hands on experience in a working environment. It’s a bonus that I’ve managed to have such a great opportunity so close to home.
Once fully qualified I would love to gain a full-time position within NPT Homes so I can continue to develop.”
Deputy Director of Assets Andrew Carey said:
