NPT Homes’ 2015 Gardening Competition Winners

NPT Homes announced the winners of its first ever tenant gardening competition at its Annual General Members’ Meeting (AGM).

The competition was an opportunity for green fingered tenants to show off their blossoming gardens. More than 20 tenants entered and the winners were shortlisted by a panel of staff and tenants, including Tenant Empowerment Officer, Lynsey Hargreaves.

Lynsey said:
“It was such a pleasure to see our tenants’ beautiful gardens in full bloom. We were delighted with the quality of the entries we received and the panel found it hard to choose between them. We will certainly be running this competition next year and look forward to even more tenants entering.”

The competition categories were Best Overall Garden, Best Communal Garden and Best Tubs and Shrubs.

Best Overall Garden was awarded to Denzil Tristram from Neath, Best Communal Garden category was won by Llwynon Sheltered Scheme in Neath and Best Tubs and Shrubs was won by Tania Shirley from Port Talbot.

Each winner received a first place prize of £50 in gardening vouchers.

Hilary Blunden from Llwynon Sheltered Scheme, said:
“I love gardening and myself and other residents are out in the communal garden as often as we can. I was so pleased to see this new competition launched for tenants and I was of course delighted to pick up the award on behalf of Llwynon. This has encouraged us to start planning for next year’s competition.”
